Nice to meet you.

  • Founder, Creative Director

You might say that before Charles Martin founded an author services company, he was one. Since 2010, when he started Literati Press Comics & Novels, his unparalleled dedication to promoting and supporting storytellers has touched all aspects of Oklahoma City’s creative community. He is the author of numerous novels, comic series, screenplays, and story collections, including Pets, Glamorella’s Daughter, and How to Control Gravity and Other Stories.

”Charles has an incredible instinct for discovering and cultivating creative talent. His feedback is encouraging and balanced, helping a writer to understand their own strengths and weaknesses to better develop their craft. I’m so grateful to have had his nurturing input on my work from my earliest projects to the ones I’m working on today, and I surely wouldn’t be where I am today without him.” —Natasha Alterici, author of the hit comic series Heathen

“Charles understands the process, the emotions, the work, and the frustrations of being a writer. He guided me through every step of getting my book out, from completing the writing, through editing, to design and marketing. Always with compassion, wisdom, and humor.” —E. Scott Jones, author of Open: A Memoir of Faith, Family, and Sexuality in the Heartland

“Charles is an enthusiastic advocate for artists and writers. He puts his money where his mouth is every single time. He's a gifted writer, fueled by passion, and has been a fantastic partner to work with in comics and other art-related endeavors.”

  • Managing Editor

Chloe Harrison has always loved a great story. Her reading tastes range from speculative young adult titles to cerebral, genre-bending adult fiction—the weirder the better. In an effort to put her penchant for correcting other people's grammar (sometimes against their will) to better use, Chloe completed a master’s degree in Publishing from Roehampton University London. When she's not reading or editing other people's stories, she's typing away at her own. As the Managing Editor of Brick & Mortar Press, Chloe would love to guide your book every step of the way from idea to the printed page.

  • Editor

Rebecca Rutledge reads books on craft like other people read novels. She reads those, too, though. Her favorites include this one, which you only think you know already, and this book you’ve never heard of.

"Rebecca Rutledge knows writing. More importantly, she knows Story. No manuscript can pass through her hands without showing immense improvement. And she not only improves, she teaches, which is a boon for any writer fortunate enough to work with her. I can't recommend her highly enough.”
—Callen Clarke, author of the science fiction trilogy Firadis
